Jerzy Starak invests in the economy


On Wednesday, October 30, 2013, Jerzy Starak - the Chairman of the Supervisory Board Polpharma SA - received the second highest Polish civil decoration state - Officer's Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Poland. He was awarded for outstanding contribution to the development of the Polish economy and social activities and charity. On the same day Jerzy Starak  opened a new line for the production of soft gelatin capsules at Medana Pharma S.A in Sieradz, Poland. The value of the project amounted to more than 4,3 million euros and will increase the production of about 130% over one year.

Jerzy Starak since the 90’s has focused his activities in the pharmaceutical industry, chairing the Polpharma Group, which is now among 25 largest generic companies in the world, with sales of 1 billion dollars per year. The group has its own R&D Department, and cooperates with universities and research institutes at home and abroad. In the Scientific and Technological Park in Gdańsk the company has created the largest and most modern biotech laboratory in Poland.

Medana S.A. is a leader in the production of pediatric drugs and vitamin preparations in modern forms. The the company’s portfolio also includes medicines used in dermatology drugs and musculoskeletal diseases as well as dietary supplements, cosmetics and medical devices. The company offers a wide range of modern medicine - liquid form (syrups, suspensions, drops, gels, solutions), dried (tablets, including coated tablets), and soft and hard capsules. This also applies to contract manufacturing, which is a very important part of the company business. The company is an investor in research and development.
